About Us

Lent

Lent is a solemn religious observance in the liturgical (church) calendar that begins on Ash Wednesday and ends approximately six weeks later, as we enter Easter Sunday. The purpose of Lent is to prepare the Christian believer through personal prayer, doing penance, repentance of sins, almsgiving, atonement, and self-denial (what did you give up?). Lent last 46 days, but the 6 Sundays are not included (only 40 days), because there is no obligation to fast on the six Sundays in Lent, Sunday is a day of worship and celebration.
