History

The First Presbyterian Church of Franklin was established on November 30, 1824, by three men and two women, among whom was George King, founder of Franklin. We were the first church established within the village of Franklin and among the first three churches established in Johnson County.

Our sanctuary building is our third and occupies Lots 1 & 2 in the Original Plat of Franklin. We have worshipped in the log cabin of George King, the upper room of the old log court house, and in an 1834 school house. The first church building, a frame structure, was erected in 1837. The second structure was built in 1851 out of brick. The present building was erected in 1875, using some of the brick from the previous structure.

Pastor Letter

Dear Friends,

We are starting something new, which among other things means that there will be some bugs!  I have posted a message for those wondering with you why God allows things like the corona virus to happen and also this Sunday’s Congregational Prayer, Old Testament Reading, Psalm, New Testament Reading and Sermon.  It is my prayer that between the email which contains the full bulletin and the video, we can keep in better touch and continue our worship.  Please remember to keep your gifts and pledges up to date so we can continue to pay our staff and expenses.  Thank you!

You can get to the video a couple of ways.  First, you can go to the First Presbyterian Church of Franklin website http://www.ffpc.us, scroll down and click on the Facebook icon in the bottom right corner of the page.  Or, you can go directly to the Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/FranklinFirstPresbyterianChurch/ and scroll down to the You Tube panel and click on the arrow.  Or, you can go straight to the video on You Tube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6_-WEVreR8&feature=youtu.be

I plan to post a brief thought about every other day.

Please remember in your prayers those who are in our nursing and retirement facilities, and those working in our hospitals.

Yours in Christ, Peter
